Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Barrel Fermented Toro is handcrafted in small batches in Esteli, Nicaragua by Drew Estate. The first wrapper is a Kentucky seed, Kentucky grown tobacco which is then fire cured in the traditional Kentucky style and then shipped to Louisiana for barrel fermentation. The fermentation technique is unique to this blend. Up to 500 pounds of tobacco is compressed with intense pressure and fermented inside of the 53 gallon barrels for 12-18 months. Once this fermentation is complete, these leaves are shipped to Nicaragua for hand rolling. This wrapper is draped over a Mexican San Andres leaf which holds together the Nicaraguan binder and hand selected fillers
